SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES SUMMER PROGRAM UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS
(VACATION SCHOLARSHIPS)

Eligibility
Applications are invited from students of Australian tertiary institutions who have recently completed at least the equivalent of two full-time years of study towards their first degree, have a major interest in earth sciences, mathematics or physics, and who are interested in undertaking an honours program in any of these disciplines under the supervision of members of School of Physical Sciences staff at the University of Queensland, after completing their undergraduate degree.

Purpose of Scholarships
Summer Program Undergraduate Research Scholarships provide an opportunity for students to interact with active researchers to gain research skills, and to learn how to present research results in the form of a written report.

It is likely that scholarships will be of particular interest to students wishing to test their ability in a particular area of research and to inform their decision regarding possible honours studies.

Scholars spend the period of their scholarships in their chosen discipline under the supervision of a member of academic staff.

Tenure
The exact duration of each scholarship is determined by the Head of School, but is normally 6 weeks.

Emolument
Scholars are paid a minimum of $250 per week for the period of their scholarship.

Other finance and residence issues
Scholars whose homes are not in the Brisbane area are required to make appropriate accommodation arrangements.
