The School of Physical Sciences encourages prospective students and their teachers to explore the many options available to students in school.

Studying Science with focus on Earth Sciences, Physics or Mathematics could be the start of a wide and varied Science Career. We offer our students world class teachers, research facilties and good career and social networking opportunities both during and after your studies.

Mathematics Infinity Club

Club Infinity is a maths-club for high school students and teachers, run by the Department of Mathematics at University of Queensland. Membership is open to individuals and schools and is free within Australia. For more information visit the Infinity club online.

Quasar Club

The Quasar Club is for students in years 11 and 12 with a passion for physics. The membership will remain quite small to allow quality support and encouragement for each individual member. The Physics Department at the University of Queensland aims to provide members, our Quasar Scholars, with an intellectual home to further their interest in physics. BrisScience

BrisScience is Brisbane’s monthly series of talks on science, featuring dynamic speakers working at the leading edge of science and technology. The talks are free and open to all. For more information visit the BrisScience homepage.

Demo Troupes (Physics and Maths)

The UQ Demo Troupe is a group of students at the University of Queensland who are interested in spreading their enthusiasm for science and maths. We meet regularly to learn how to perform science demonstrations, and to develop new demonstrations. We frequently visit schools to perform science shows, and we present regular lecture demonstrations for undergraduate subjects at UQ.

Enhanced Studies Program

The Enhanced Studies Program (ESP) provides an opportunity for talented Year 12 students to enrol in one course (subject) at The University of Queensland during semester one at St Lucia and Gatton or semester one and two at Ipswich. Students attend classes with University students and have the opportunity to study in a range of disciplines, including mathematics, history, philosophy, economics, psychology, languages, literature and political science. Students are able to use the Libraries and student facilities and are provided with a special orientation session and a graduation ceremony upon completion. For more information visit the ESP website.
